PC split-screen setup

  1. Connect the extra controllers

    Start the game and load the host town until Player 1 can move around.

  2. Open the in-game phone

    Open the multiplayer or friends function. The developer’s older instructions call it Phone Friends; the current build groups multiplayer controls in the phone.

  3. Choose Invite or add local player

    Open the local-player invitation screen, then press a button on the second controller to join.

  4. Repeat for more local players

    The PC version supports up to four players in total, subject to connected input devices and the host’s permissions.

Controller and keyboard rules

Only one player can use keyboard and mouse in a local session. Additional local players need controllers. The developer has confirmed that multiple controllers can be used together.

Local split-screen players do not need separate Steam accounts or additional game copies. Online players do need their own copies.

Nintendo Switch and Switch 2

Nintendo’s store lists one or two players on a single system for Go-Go Town!. It also lists one or two players online and requires Nintendo Switch Online for online play.

The public Nintendo product page does not provide an exact button-by-button split-screen setup. Pair the controllers through the console first, load the host town, then follow the local-player prompt in the game’s multiplayer phone screen. If the prompt differs, use the label shown by the current console build rather than an older PC screenshot.

If Player 2 cannot join

  • Confirm the second controller is connected to the system before opening the local-player invitation.
  • On PC, do not try to assign a second keyboard-and-mouse pair; extra players require controllers.
  • If hosting a mixed local-and-online game, check that the host role allows adding local players.
  • For a repeatable PC bug, use F8 to send the developer an in-game report with the save data.

Frequently asked questions

Does Player 2 need another Steam account?

No for local split screen on one PC. Player 2 joins with a controller and the host’s copy. Separate accounts and copies are required for separate PCs playing online.

Can two players both use keyboard and mouse?

No. The developer says a local session supports a maximum of one keyboard-and-mouse player; additional players need controllers.

Can four people play split screen on Switch?

No. Nintendo’s store currently lists one or two players on a single Switch system. The four-player maximum applies to the PC version.
