Which version should an existing Switch owner use?

1. Confirm that you own the base Switch game

   Nintendo states that the upgrade pack requires Go-Go Town! for Nintendo Switch.

2. Use the regular edition for compatibility

   Nintendo lists the Switch edition as supported on Switch 2 with behavior consistent with Nintendo Switch.

3. Use the upgrade pack for enhanced presentation

   The dedicated Switch 2 features are 1080p, 60fps, and enhanced visuals. A developer reply confirms 1080p/60fps in both handheld and docked play.

Local and online co-op limits

• Nintendo lists 1–2 players on one system.
• Nintendo lists 1–2 players online.
• Online Play requires a Nintendo Switch Online membership; Save Data Cloud is supported.
• The developer does not support PC-to-Switch crossplay, so a Steam player cannot join the same town from Nintendo.

Switch patches do not use the PC version track

Switch 1.0.26307 went live on September 2. It added the 14 new items, horse stalls, multiplayer vehicle tricks, and fixes for couriers and players getting stuck after vomiting.

As of September 21, PC is on 1.0.26502, with Photo Mode, a Garbird activity slider and terrain brush sizes. Nintendo follows a separate patch schedule; the release of those features has not yet been confirmed for Switch or Switch 2.

Demo and unofficial download claims

The developer announced that a Switch demo had been submitted after launch and later referred to bugs affecting the demo. The US Nintendo web pages checked on September 4 do not show a demo button, so check the eShop on the console for your account region.

Do not use pages offering a Switch ROM, unofficial download, or so-called learning version. The valid purchase and upgrade routes are the Nintendo listings.
